Colin Kaepernick appears to respond to Michael Vick's hair comments with tweet

Colin Kaepernick seemingly responded to Michael Vick’s comments about his NFL free agency — including Vick's suggestion that Kaepernick cut his hair — by tweeting the definition of Stockholm Syndrome on Tuesday.

During a Monday appearance on FS1's Speak for Yourself, Vick was critical of Kaepernick -- who has yet to sign with a team following a season in which he drew headlines for kneeling during the national anthem to advocate for social justice. Vick said on FS1 that Kaepernick wasn’t on a team due to his struggles on the field, but he also made a point about the quarterback's image being a key issue.

“The first thing we got to get Colin to do is cut his hair,” Vick said. “Listen, I’m not up here to try to be politically correct, but even if he puts cornrows in it, I don’t think he should represent himself in that way in terms of just a hairstyle. Just go clean cut. Why not? You’re already dealing with a lot of controversy surrounding this issue. What he needs to do is just try to be presentable.”

However, Vick on Tuesday somewhat backpedaled on his original comments, noting on Twitter, “trust and believe what I said was not in malice.”

“Colin Kaepernick’s hair has nothing to do with him not being on a NFL roster right now. Let’s be clear,” Vick tweeted. “I stand by what I’ve said about him being signed at some point this season to help a NFL club. I think he is a great kid who has a bright future, and I’m looking forward to seeing him on the field again.”

During his final years with the Atlanta Falcons, Vick wore his hair in cornrows. When he returned to the league after serving two years in prison for his involvement in dogfighting, the cornrows were gone.
