The ranks of the unbeaten in men’s college basketball continue to dwindle, prompting a change at the top of the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll.

Baylor takes over the No. 1 spot for the first time this season, and in fact for the first time since USA TODAY began administering the coaches poll in 1991. The Bears are one of only two remaining teams yet to taste defeat, though they had a narrow escape over the weekend against Big 12 opponent Oklahoma State.

Baylor receives 22 of 32 first-place votes this week, with second-ranked Kansas picking up nine. Villanova slips to third after a midweek loss at Butler, though the Wildcats did bounce back with a victory and retain a single No. 1 nod.

UCLA checks in at No. 4, edging ahead of Gonzaga, the only other undefeated squad in Division I, by a single poll point.

Minnesota makes its first appearance in the poll of the season at No. 24. No. 25 Southern California moves back in as Virginia Tech and Indiana fall out.
