Los Angeles police continue to investigate New York Knicks star Derrick Rose over the sexual abuse allegations at the center of a civil lawsuit set to go to trial, according to federal court records.

New York Knicks star Derrick Rose is still under investigation by the L.A. police department over a sexual abuse allegation by an unnamed woman.

“This note is to clarify any misconceptions that the Los Angeles Police Departments does not have a current criminal investigation pending that names the suspects in the current civil case being handled by your office,” Det. Nadine Hernandez wrote in a letter sent on Thursday.

Hernandez addressed the letter to Brandon Anand, the lawyer for the woman suing Rose. She alleges Rose and two of his friends sexually assaulted her in August 2013 while she was incapacitated.

The letter from the LAPD was part of a filing Sunday as Anand again sought to keep the identity of the alleged victim secret.

Phil Jackson pressed on Rose issue

U.S. District Judge Michael Fitzgerald ruled last week that the identity of the woman, referred to only as Jane Doe, would be unable to remain anonymous at trial since he wouldn't close the courtroom. The trial is scheduled to begin on Oct. 4.

USA TODAY Sports does not usually identify sexual assault victims.

Hernandez wrote that the woman's identity would continue to be remain confidential as the criminal investigation progresses.

"The ability to offer anonymous to victims of sex crimes is an invaluable investigative aid to investigators as well as a great comfort to victims of crimes of such a sensitive nature," Hernandez wrote.

The filing also had screen captures of social media posts where the name of woman was purportedly disclosed. Her name was blacked out in the filing.
