Boston Celtics' Isaiah Thomas: 'Hardest week of my life'

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas (4) gets a hug from guard Avery Bradley (0) after hitting a shot against the Chicago Bulls during the first quarter in game one of the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs at TD Garden.

Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas released a statement Wednesday calling this "the hardest week of my life."

Thomas lost his sister, Chyna, to a single-car accident this past weekend. Thomas hasn't talked to the media since the tragedy, but he has played in both of the Celtics' first-round games.

Thomas flew home Wednesday morning to Washington state to be with his family with plans to return to Chicago for Game 3 vs. the Bulls Friday night. There wasn't a funeral set, and no other teammates flew back with him, according to Celtics coach Brad Stevens.

Thomas managed to play in Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Bulls, scoring a game high 33 points. He followed that up with 20 in Tuesday night's loss.
