NASCAR race red-flagged for pothole repair in New Hampshire

NASCAR made repairs in all four turns at New Hampshire Motor Speedway before Sunday's race began.

NASCAR threw the red flag before starting Stage 2 of the Overton's 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as a hole was discovered on the track surface between Turns 3 and 4.

The field had been driving around the 1.058-mile oval under caution on Lap 80, getting ready to start the second segment when NASCAR ordered the field back to pit road so crews could work on repairing the asphalt.

The red flag lasted 5 minutes and 30 seconds.

This wasn't the first time a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race was temporary delayed to repair the track. The 2010 Daytona 500 was halted twice to repair a pothole, and in 2014 the spring race at Dover International Speedway was red-flagged when a piece of concrete broke free on the 1-mile oval.

NASCAR had made repairs to the NHMS surface in all four turns Saturday night.
