MINNEAPOLIS – Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera exited Friday’s game after being hit in the chest by a ground ball.

Cabrera was diagnosed with a contusion on his right clavicle. X-rays were negative. He is listed as day to day.

Robbie Grossman’s grounder to first in the fourth inning took a sharp hop and hit Cabrera, who was able to recover in time to move to first and get the out.

After being checked by Tigers head athletic trainer Kevin Rand, Cabrera remained in the game defensively for the rest of the inning.

But Andrew Romine pinch-hit for Cabrera in the fifth inning and stayed in the game at first base.

Cabrera was 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts. He’s batting .167 (3-for-18) through five games on the current road trip.
