After nine innings last Sunday, visiting Lannon and Sussex were deadlocked at 5-5 in their Land O'Lakes Western Division baseball showdown. Extra innings were needed. And that's when Lannon took over.
In the top of the 10th inning, Joey Bratten delivered the biggest hit of the game as he tripled and scored the winning run one batter later. When Lannon pitcher Nick Erd took down the Cardinals in the bottom of the inning, the Stonemen had themselves a 6-5 victory.
Erd and Sussex starter Travis Thompson both went the distance, with Erd recording his second straight victory.
Lannon is now 2-1, and Sussex is 2-2. Pewaukee leads the Lake Country Division with a 3-0 record, and Monches and Oconomowoc are 3-1. The two Brookfield teams are tied for the lead in the Suburban Division with 3-1 records.
Bratten led the Stonemen with three hits. Brett Krause and Kyle Zimmerman had two hits each.
Ryan Weissman, Todd Johnson, Scott Carberry and Michael Barnes each had two hits for the Cardinals.
Josh Bouche of Oconomwooc leads the hitting race with a .600 mark. Others faring well are Nick Heiting of Menomonee Falls at .583, Phil Giuffre of Merton at .579, Matt Parrent of West Bend 7-Up at .562, Zach Swan of North Lake at .500, Derek Nelson of Oconomowoc at .500 and Todd Johnson of Sussex at .500.
TJ Roberts of Monches is the RBI leader with nine.
Brian Henschel of Pewaukee leads the pitchers with an ERA of 1.08. He's followed by John Arnold of the Blue Sox at 1.16 and Don August of the Falls at 1.71.
Sussex will play Saturday at Milwaukee and Sunday at home against Oconomowoc at 1 p.m.
Lannon will play Saturday at home against the Blue Sox and Sunday at West Bend Lithia.
