Against Cedarburg on Jan. 22, the Germantown Ice Bears lost, 5-3. Cedarburg scored three goals in the first period, but Germantown scored three in the second period.

Joshua Rusniak had the team's first goal 7 minutes, 25 seconds into the second period. Ryan Ruona had the assist. At the 13:32 mark, Austin Phillips cut Cedarburg's lead to 4-2 off a pass from Tony Koerner. Less than three minutes later, Derek Anderson scored the Ice Bears' third goal of the game off an assist from Jake Herrendeen and Ethan Rentmeester.

Cedarburg sealed the win in the third period with another goal.

'We just continue to struggle in the net,' Germantown coach Russ Wanta said. 'We outshot Cedarburg, 33-18, but still lost the game. Because of our young and inexperienced goaltending, we must play mistake-free hockey in front of them. That is a difficult thing to do for 54 minutes. Nothing really changed between the periods, except that we began to execute offensively. Ironically, the first period provided our very best opportunities to score. We just could not get the puck in the net.'

The Ice Bears are 3-17 this season.
