On Senior Day, Menomonee Falls' Carter Ricco had a day to remember in an 8-3 victory over Cedarburg on July 8.
Ricco tossed his first career no-hitter in seven innings of work, struck out three batters and walked three. Falls committed three errors.
The last no-hitter for Falls came in 2015 from Ty Weber in five innings. According to coach Pat Hansen, the previous Falls pitcher to throw a seven-inning no-hitter dates back to 2003.
Ricco also went 2 for 3 in the game. Ryan Piontek contributed three hits and two RBIs. Cole Mir drove in three runs.
Falls earned the No. 3 seed in a WIAA sectional and will receive a bye in the first round of play. Falls is scheduled to open postseason play July 12.
Against Wauwatosa East on July 5, Falls won, 8-1. Ben Heitman pitched all seven innings, struck out two and gave up four hits.
"The defense played well," Hansen said. "It was a good, solid complete game."
Jake Sutherland went 3 for 4 with a RBI. Logan Roble had two hits.
On July 7, Falls took down West Allis Central, 10-0, in six innings. Ryan Spalding went 2 for 3 with four RBIs. Sutherland had two RBIs.
Warhawks win final two games
Germantown started off the final week of the regular season with an 8-2 defeat at Nicolet on July 3 but responded with back-to-back victories.
Against Southeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschool Athletics on July 5, Germantown won in five innings, 11-0. Connor Stoming finished the game with six RBIs.
Nathan Hefle struck out six in five innings on the mound.
On July 7, the Warhawks beat Classic 8 Conference champion Kettle Moraine, 7-1.
"We had all our top pitchers available," Germantown coach Jeff Wolf said. "We were able to really throw our top five pitchers one or two innings. They did a great job. Our defense played well, which has really been a key for us."
Bryce Thomas and J.P. Szopinski both had two hits each. Cade Bredent got the win in two innings of action on the mound.
Germantown earned the No. 2 seed in its bracket and will had a bye in the opening round. The Warhawks are scheduled to open postseason play July 12.
