Xavier Simpson #3 of the Michigan Wolverines pulls on the tie of head coach John Beilein during the second half against the Purdue Boilermakers during the Big Ten Basketball Tournament at Verizon Center on March 10, 2017 in Washington, DC.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Michigan basketball's storybook season continues.

And even coach John Beilein is joining in on the fun.

Just minutes after his No. 7-seeded Wolverines stunned No. 2 Louisville, 73-69, in the second round of the NCAA tournament, Beilein was seen on camera strafing into the U-M locker room with a Super Soaker, spraying his players in celebration.

The Super Soaker was just an escalation of the postgame water war between Beilein and his players throughout U-M's six-game postseason streak.

During the streak, the players have been dousing Beilein with water when he returns to the locker room after his postgame interviews. He began fighting back at the Big Ten tournament, bringing in a water bottle to try to get the players back.

After Friday's win over Oklahoma State, MGoBlue.com tweeted some classic photos of him enjoying the moment and trying to get them back.

Sunday's response was strategic.

"I think it was (wife) Kathleen's idea," Beilein said with Kathleen confirming as she stood outside the media scrum. "She had it under surveillance. It was a little bit of a clandestine operation where she had it, then she snuck it to (equipment manager) Bob Bland. And I was armed and ready to go."

For the superstitious and routine-oriented Beilein, it was a major step.

"I went into this game with a lot of confidence I was going to be using it at the end of that game," Beilein said. "At the end of the first half (down by eight), the Super Soaker, I wasn't sure it was ever going to be known I had it. We withstood everything they had and won the game."

Michigan may not make the Final Four, but that Super Soaker clip is destined for the One Shining Moment video.
