Trump appoints another Goldman Sachs executive
A former member of the George W. Bush administration — and another Goldman Sachs executive — is joining Donald Trump's White House.
Dina Habib Powell, who heads up charitable efforts for Goldman Sachs, will become "Senior Counselor for Economic Initiatives," the president-elect's team announced Thursday, with duties including projects built around "entrepreneurship, small business growth and the global economic empowerment of women."
"She has been recognized for her strategic oversight of key programs and initiatives and is a leader in both economic growth and the crucial empowerment of women in various aspects of business development and entrepreneurial endeavors," Trump said.
Powell, who served the Bush administration as personnel director and assistant secretary of State for educational and cultural affairs, said Trump "has a unique opportunity to unleash the untapped potential of small business owners and female entrepreneurs."
She also joins other Goldman Sachs officials in the Trump administration, including economic adviser Gary Cohn and Treasury Secretary-designate Steven Mnuchin.
