Town of Lisbon — Park officials have canceled the annual Winterfest event because of poor weather conditions.

The event, originally set for Saturday, Jan. 28,  was called off at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, because, Town Park Chairman Marlene Kumitsch said, there was too much water and not enough cold weather for ice skating and other outdoor activities. She said the Lisbon Community Park area was like "a swimming pool."

Park Director John Greiten said while at this time the event will not be rescheduled, if weather conditions improve in a few weeks, the park committee might decide to hold it after all. If that happens, Greiten said the date will be posted on the town's website, townoflisbonwi.com/225/Park-Committee.

Kumitsch started the event five years ago to give local families a chance to have fun when the days are short, but this year, the weather was too unpredictable.

Last year's event drew in a record-breaking crowd of 120-150 people.

Elm Grove's winter festival scheduled for this weekend was also canceled due to warm temperatures.
