Engine Show

The Sussex Antique Power Association's Engine Show  and Threshing Bee will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 to 28, at Sussex Village Park, N63 W24459 Main St. Daily festivities include a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., tractors, farm equipment, Farmer Dan's Kid Zone activities, small engines, antique cars and trucks, entertainment, food and a car show on Sunday. Contact Kevin Reimer at 262-246-3245 for general information or visit www.sussexantiquepower.org.

Depot Museum

The Sussex-Lisbon Area Historical Society's Depot Museum continues to be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. every second and fourth Saturday. Admission to the museum is $4, children 10 and under are admitted free. St. John's classes start

Students attending St. John's Lutheran School of Lannon will start classes Monday, Aug. 29. The school is located at 20813 Forest View Drive. It is a K through 8th grade school. Contact the school at 262-251-2940, for more details.

School starts

Hamilton School District students will begin classes Thursday, Sept. 1.

Classes are in session from 8:35 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. at elementary schools.

Templeton Middle School hours are from 7:25 a.m. to 2:35 p.m.; and Hamilton High School runs from 7:20 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. The bus company sent out yellow postcards notifying bus riders of their routes this week.

Register to vote

Lisbon Clerk/Administrator Matt Janecke has asked that residents register for voting early to cut down on the long lines, the long wait period and the congestion at the polls.

Residents can come to the Lisbon Town Hall, W234 N8676 Woodside Road, any time during the regular office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The next election is the presidential election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Pantry needs

The Sussex Outreach Services Food Pantry, N65 W24838 Main St. Unit 410, Sussex, is asking donations for items they are out of. The items needed are canned chicken, peas, pineapple, mandarin oranges, refried beans, pork and beans, sloppy Joe mixes, Jello, ramen noodles, boxed mashed potatoes and cake mixes and frosting. Donations may be brought to the pantry from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Call the pantry at 262-246-9860, for more information.

It all counts

Area residents were asked to give to two programs sponsored by Sussex Outreach Services (SOS) this summer.

Operation Backpack helped 130 children with school supplies needed for this school year and the Back to School with New Shoes Program gave out 86 vouchers for new shoes from the Sussex Shopko. All the children are from families served by SOS.

Offices closed

The following offices will be closed in observation of Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5: Lannon Village Hall (262-251-7690), Lisbon Town Hall (262-246-6100) and Sussex Village Hall (262-246-5200).

A 911 Memorial Service will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Lisbon Town Hall Park, W234 N8676 Woodside Road. More information coming.
