New grocery concept opened May 10 in village

MENOMONEE FALLS - Fresh Thyme Farmer's Market opens its doors to the Menomonee Falls community on Wednesday, May 10.

The fast-growing retailer will also open its Brookfield location the same day, and later, in Green Bay in July and Greenfield in August. Fresh Thyme will make its way into Madison in 2018.

Nate Black, Fresh Thyme’s director of operations, said he's most looking forward to offering more healthy living options to Menomonee Falls residents.

“For me, what I’m most looking forward to is the community," Black said. "We want to offer healthy values for healthy living at a very reasonable price. You’ll see that when you see our ads and the pricing; it’s just unbelievable.

"One of the things that we do is we feel that we make our competition get better on what they do because we pride ourselves on great products. Our team members have fun at their jobs. Jeans and a polo shirt or T-shirt is what our associates wear. It’s laid back and we have fun and we enjoy being in the communities we’re in. We look forward to serving them.”

Here are the top five features you will find at the Menomonee Falls Fresh Thyme, N89W16849 Appleton Ave.:

1). Fresh Thyme lets shoppers customize their buys

Fresh Thyme - Menomonee Falls offers a center aisle juice bar, which is only the third store within the entire corporation that offers the feature. Fresh Thyme in Brookfield offers the juice bar as well.

For those who have allergies, the juice is made to order. Juice specialties include red thyme, green thyme, veggie thyme, orange thyme and six varieties of lemonade; the pink lemonade is Black's personal favorite.

The store also has a nut grinder bar so shoppers can freshly grind their own peanut butter, cashew butter and almond butter.

2). Fresh Thyme has pride for produce

Fresh Thyme prides itself on its produce selection. According to Black, 25-35 percent of the company's total store business is in produce products.

"Our center plate is our produce; that's our main draw," Black said.

3). Fresh Thyme is 'a health store within a store'

A few steps left of the main entrance to the store is the natural living section that offers 500 different health products like vitamins and even organic makeup and skin care products.

"It’s an interesting department," Black said. "It’s a health store within a store.”

4). The retailer has upward growth across the region

Being a three-year-old company, Fresh Thyme has seen tremendous growth; according to Black, the grocer has grown to 62 locations in three years.

5). Fresh Thyme is a go-to for meals

Fresh Thyme has an area especially designed with lunch time in mind. The grocer has a salad and antipasto bar, sushi bar — with select sushi offered at $4.99 every Thursday. A cafe near the front of the store has roughly 10 tables and a bar with an additional 12-15 seats for shoppers.

Fresh Thyme will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 9, starting at 4 p.m. This friends and family event is open to the public for shopping.

"Anyone can come," Black said. "There will be music, food and giveaways. It’s a fun time to test things and make sure registers and ovens are running even though we’ve tested those things, we need to test them with live folks in here.”

Wednesday, May 10, is the official opening day; doors open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 10 p.m., its regular hours seven days a week.

Black said at other locations he has seen shoppers line up as early as 2:30 a.m.

The first 250 shoppers in line will get a free, reusable canvas bag with loaded goodies from the store.

Coffee and pastries will be handed out to shoppers waiting in line before the opening.
