Village of Menomonee Falls — Jason Smith of Menomonee Falls and Anthony Corsten of Germantown were accused of stealing alcohol from Pick 'n Save, N95 W18351 County Line Road, and selling the bottles to buy drugs.

According to the criminal complaint filed on Jan. 18, the two men concealed bottles of alcohol in their pants, including Crown Royal, Grey Goose Vodka, Jose Cuervo Gold, and other bottles of brand-name liquor almost daily between May 12 and May 22.

Collectively, the two men face 21 counts of retail theft.

Police were first called to the Pick 'n Save on May 23 after a loss prevention employee said he suspected Corsten, who was in his custody, had stolen from the store "numerous" times with another unknown suspect at the time.

The employee had reviewed surveillance footage and observed on May 19, Corsten and Smith entered the store together and each stole a bottle of D'usse Cognac, and a bottle of Crown Royal by hiding it in their pants; the cost of the liquor was valued at nearly $200 that day.

Based on the footage, the two men allegedly continued these crimes on May 12-17, May 19, May 20, May 22, with Smith acting alone on July 2.

On the day of his arrest, Corsten had entered the store on May 23 and took two bottles of Jack Daniels and one bottle of Smirnoff, and put them down his pants, according to the complaint, and exited the store. The loss prevention employee confronted Corsten outside the store, at which time, Corsten allegedly ran back inside Pick 'n Save, placed the three bottles on the ground, and said he didn't steal anything.

According to the complaint, officers arrived soon after. Corsten admitted he stole alcohol that day, and later said he stole multiple times with Smith to get drugs.

For each of the 21 counts, the men face a maximum fine of $10,000, nine months in prison, or both penalties.
