GERMANTOWN - The Germantown Fire Department helped deliver a baby boy just before 3 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at McDonald's, N92 W17512 County Line Road.

The 23-year-old mother was en route to the hospital with her husband, but the labor was progressing quicker than expected, so the Richfield couple had to stop at the Germantown McDonald's for emergency assistance. The baby was delivered by the parents before emergency responders arrived.

Capt. Robert Asmondy found the woman upon arrival and provided care for the mother and baby; this was the first emergency deliver the department assisted with since Chief Gary Weiss started with the department in 2014.

The mother and baby boy were transported to Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
