Washington County received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its 2015 comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

This is the 14th consecutive year that the county has been recognized in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

"We have top notch employees working for Washington County to help us manage our annual $125 million dollar budgeted expenditures in the most cost-effective and prudent way possible," County Administrator Joshua Schoemann said.

Financial highlights for the County in 2015 included: a decreased property tax rate by $0.17 per $1,000; decreased debt by $2.7 million; and increased fund balances by $.07 million in governmental funds.
