Village of Germantown - The Germantown Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at 3:26 p.m. Aug. 25 on southbound Interstate 41, south of Holy Hill Road.

The fire was extinguished, and the vehicle was declared a total loss -- a value of $4,900. No one was injured in the incident.

A 2009 Toyota Scion was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived to the scene, and the occupants of the vehicle were standing outside of the car. Highway 45 southbound was closed for 15 minutes to combat the fire.

Fire Chief Gary Weiss said the occupants of the vehicle were driving on the highway when they heard a pop sound in the engine, and saw smoke emerging from the hood. Weiss said there was too much damage to tell the cause of the fire.
