1 A wallet was stolen out of a woman’s purse while she was shopping at Piggly Wiggly, N81 W15182 Appleton Ave., at about 2:40 p.m. Jan. 16. The two suspects fled the lot in a dark blue Dodge Dakota pickup truck that was pursued by police. However, the chase was stopped due to heavy traffic and poor weather conditions.
2 A man walked into Menomonee Falls Gas and Liquor, N86 W16317 Appleton Ave., diverted the clerk’s attention by requesting cigarettes, and then grabbed an entire display containing 225 cigarette lighters and ran out of the business at about 11:40 a.m. Jan. 17. The suspect, a white male wearing tan pants and a black Arctic parka with a brown fur-trimmed hood, was last seen walking behind the store. The lighters are valued at about $268.
3 Someone threw a rock through the front picture window of a residence in the 14700 block of Northpoint Drive at about 11 a.m. Jan. 17. During the investigation, police discovered the vandalism was connected to money the residents’ son allegedly owed to a drug dealer.
4 Emergency personnel responded to a report of heavy smoke coming out of second floor at Cameron Heights Apartments, N93 W17678 White Oak Circle, at 4:40 p.m. Jan. 15. When police and firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was pouring out of the second story and alarms were sounding. After clearing all tenants, it was discovered the smoke was coming from a pie that was burning on top of a stove.
5 Police pursued a vehicle that failed to pull over for a traffic stop on Appleton Avenue and Pilgrim Road at about 4:10 a.m. Jan. 14. The vehicle, described as a gray or tan four-door sedan with front bumper damage and tinted windows, reached speeds of about 100 mph during the pursuit, which lasted about 1.5 miles. The vehicle was last seen traveling north on Appleton Avenue.
6 A 33-year-old Milwaukee man who was involved in a physical fight with someone at Woodman’s, W124 N8145 Highway 145, was taken into custody for having a warrant for a sex offender registry violation at about 1:15 p.m. Jan. 14.
7 A 34-year-old Menomonee Falls man who was allegedly intoxicated, arguing with his brother and out of control inside a residence in the 7200 block of Lilly Road was taken into custody for resisting an officer and bail jumping after he refused to follow police orders and barricaded himself inside a bedroom at about 3:45 p.m. Jan. 14. Police forced the bedroom door open and an officer had to deploy an electronic control device (Taser) to take him into custody.
8 Police responded to the N8700 block of Pilgrim Road after a caller reported a woman was running in traffic, yelling for help at about 1:45 a.m. Jan. 19. The woman, who allegedly told police she needed medical help because she had taken “three dabs” of LSD, was on active probation/parole for a previous drug offense and was taken into custody for a probation violation after being evaluated at the hospital.
