1Someone cut a hole in the screen door of a residence in the 5100 block of Chase Avenue in an apparent attempt to burglarize the home at about 9:50 a.m. Aug. 11. The suspect fled in a smaller, four-door black vehicle with tinted windows shortly after the resident discovered the screen door had been cut.
2A battery-operated hammer drill was stolen out of a locked work van parked at Woodman’s, W124 N8145 Highway 145, at about 8:35 a.m. Aug. 11. The suspect got into the van by punching out the locks on the rear and side cargo doors.
3A Hilti brand cordless drill driver was stolen out of an unlocked work van parked at Froedtert Integrated Services Center, N86 W12999 Nightingale Way, between 7 a.m. and noon Aug. 11. Police believe the theft is related to the theft from a locked work van parked at Woodman’s.
4A purse was stolen out of a locked vehicle parked at Children of America Day Care, N56 W14192 Silver Spring Drive, between 7:30 and 7:34 a.m. Aug. 12. The suspect smashed out a window and grabbed the purse.
5A resident reported she was scammed out of $9,000 by someone claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service at 1:10 p.m. Aug. 12. When the victim tried to transfer another $9,000 through Wells Fargo Bank, W180 N9440 Premier Lane, an employee intervened and cancelled the transaction.
6A 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen out of the lot at the Trysting Place Pub, N71 W12980 Appleton Ave., between 7:30 and 10:05 p.m. Aug. 12. The victim told police he left his keys in the cup holder inside his vehicle.
7A wallet was stolen out of a woman’s purse while she was shopping at Super Pick ’n Save, N77 W14435 Appleton Ave., between 1:25 and 1:55 p.m. Aug. 13. The wallet was stolen out of the purse after the victim placed it in her shopping cart.
8A $120 black leather messenger briefcase was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7200 block of Lund Circle between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 13 and 7:15 a.m. Aug. 14. According to police, another vehicle in a nearby parking lot was also entered and rummaged through but nothing was stolen.
9A female patient and two males reportedly stole a thermometer and two boxes of probes out of an emergency room at Community Memorial Hospital, W180 N8085 Town Hall Road, at 3:40 a.m. Aug. 15. The theft was discovered after the woman was released.
10A 40-year-old male employee is facing charges of embezzlement after he allegedly stole $6,280 from Emery’s Bicycle & Fitness Shop, N88 W15036 Main St., between 8 a.m. July 15 and 9:30 a.m. Aug. 15. The suspect, who was seen entering the business after hours on Aug. 10 and taking the money out of a bank deposit, allegedly admitted stealing some of the money because he needed it to pay a drug debt.
11A baseball card collection, valued between $2,500 and $5,000, two bottles of collectible Jack Daniels, a class ring and other items were stolen from a residence in the W15800 block of Steven Mack Circle between midnight July 1 and 7:10 p.m. Aug. 12. The victim gave police the name of a suspect, who is on probation for a drug conviction in Waukesha County. The suspect, who had access to the home when the thefts occurred, allegedly posted pictures of himself on his Facebook page with a large amount of cash and what appeared to be one of the stolen Jack Daniels bottles.
12A 25-year-old man was cited for disorderly conduct after he allegedly struck his 17-year-old girlfriend while they were driving in her car in the N85 W14200 block of Fond du Lac Avenue at about 10:55 a.m. Aug. 11.
13A 28-year-old man was is facing charges of possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia after he was found unconscious from a heroin overdose inside a home in the 6400 block of Marvel Drive, with hypodermic needles, a spoon and other drug paraphernalia at his feet at about 7:40 p.m. Aug. 13. He admitted to using heroin and was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
14Two vehicles and a trailer were reportedly broken into and vandalized during a theft attempt at Bachman’s Landscaping, N57 W14544 Shawn Circle, at about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 11. The suspect smashed out the window of one of the vehicles and damaged the ignition assembly, and the second vehicle was not in working condition and was left on the lot. A male was seen breaking into the vehicles on surveillance video.
15Someone tried to break into an unmarked Department of Natural Resources squad parked in the 6600 block of Lilly Creek Drive between 9 p.m. Aug. 10 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 11. The suspect tried to punch out a lock on the driver’s side door, and when that didn’t work, tried to use a screwdriver to break into the passenger side front window. The vehicle contained an AR-15 rifle in a locked stand.
