Eighth-graders

Hamilton High School will welcome incoming ninth-graders and their parents to its Eighth Grade Orientation and Open House at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the Hamilton Fine Arts Center, W220 N6151 Town Line Road, Sussex.

A brief introduction to the high school and an overview of the registration process will be presented at the orientation. Course catalogs and other registration materials will be distributed. Students and parents will receive further information about high school requirements, honors courses and four-year planning. Each student will also receive their core course recommendations at the meeting.

Administrators, school counselors and representatives from departments, clubs and extracurricular activities will be on hand to answer questions. Informational meetings for students interested in band and choir will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Little Theater.

Families can contact HHS guidance counselor Tricia Rigg at 262-246-6476, ext. 1134, if their eighth-graders have not been contacted, are unable to attend or for more information.

Playgroup

Faith Lutheran Church, W244 N6383 Weaver Drive, Sussex, offers a faith-based playgroup from 9 to 10 a.m. the second Friday of the month September through May.

Building Blocks is for infants to 5 years old and their caregivers. Each month the group has a theme, such as kindness, it focuses on. The next playgroup will be held Friday, Feb. 10.

Valentine Week

The Fred H. Keller History Museum will offer free admission from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, Feb. 13 and 15.

Rita Hahn will play romantic vinyl album music during the senior program, Tune Tuesday, at 11 a.m. Feb. 14, in the Civic Center. The Sussex-Lisbon Area Historical Society (SLAHS) will award door prizes at the Valentine Lunch at noon Wednesday, Feb. 15. The museum and senior lunches are located in the Sussex Civic Center, N64 W23760 Main St.

Community banquets

The community banquet meal is a coordinated effort for 10 area churches and six denominations.

The free banquet, which is held the second and fourth Thursday of each month, except Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks, is open to everyone. Coffee, water and milk is served; dinner begins at 5:30 p.m.

The meal is held in the St. James Catholic Church Parish Community Center, W220 N6588 Town Line Road, Menomonee Falls. No reservations needed. A free will offering is held twice a year. The February banquets will be held Feb. 9 and 23.
