The Menomonee Falls Public Library, W156 N8436 Pilgrim Road, will show “The BFG” at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29.

Bunco

The Germantown Senior Center, W162 N11960 Park Ave., holds Bunco from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month.

Those interested in learning how to play or those with experience are invited. The group meets in room 126B. The cost is $2 for residents and nonresidents. The group will next get together at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Snow fun

The 2017 Germantown Snowman Building Contest begins Sunday, Jan.1.

The Germantown Park and Recreation Department is sponsoring the contest to find the best snowman builders in the village. Those interested can pick from two categories, a snowman or other snow creatures, to build in their own yard. Take a picture with the builders standing beside it. All entries must be suitable for all viewing audiences. Submit photos to the Park and Recreation Department, N112 W17001 Mequon Road, or by email at parkrec@village.germantown.wi.us by Friday, Feb. 17.

Discussion group

The Menomonee Falls Public Library will host a series of monthly book discussion groups.

The discussions will be held at 7 p.m. Thursdays, in the Youth Program Room. The Jan. 12 book will be "Ordinary Grace" by William Kent Krueger. Copies of the book will be available to check out for those needing them. Refreshments will be served. There will also be special showings of films based on some of theses titles. Check the library's website for more information.

The Germantown Senior Center is available to rent for events.

The space is available after 4:30 p.m. and on weekends for events such as small weddings, bridal and baby showers, birth day parties and family reunions.
