Community Memorial Foundation and the medical staff at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin Community Memorial Hospital are accepting scholarship applications from area students pursuing careers in health care.
The online application and complete details can be found at www.froedtert.com/community-memorial/foundation/scholarship. Completed applications must be submitted by March 1.
Community Memorial Foundation offers scholarships to high school seniors and undergraduate students pursuing health care or medical careers who reside in the hospital’s service area (north side of Waukesha County, south side of Washington County and the northwest side of Milwaukee County). The students are selected by a scholarship committee based on their academic excellence, interest in health professions, scholarship need, connection to the hospital and enrollment in an accredited university or college.
“The foundation supports many services and programs at Community Memorial Hospital,” said Sharon Ellis, volunteer chair of the board of directors of Community Memorial Foundation. “Our scholarship program allows us to truly give back to the future of health care.”
Donations to the foundation make the scholarship program possible.
The medical staff scholarship program also includes scholarships for area high school students as well as medical students attending the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison or the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
“We are privileged to have a medical staff that realizes the importance of investing in the future of medicine,” explained David Goldberg, MD, chief medical officer and vice president of Medical Affairs at Community Memorial Hospital. “A portion of medical staff dues are allocated to fund scholarships for deserving students. It allows our physicians and providers to help young students pursue medical professions.”
