Village of Sussex - A new Sussex IM manufacturing facility will add 158,000 square feet to one of Sussex’s major development areas. The property sits on the north side of Lisbon Road, just 400 yards east of the new Meijer store.
The new facility – scheduled for March 2017 operation - will add 200 new employees at full capacity, with 40 new employees to be hired initially. The facility will serve as a close-by adjunct to the Sussex headquarters.
A groundbreaking event was held Monday, Aug. 1, to celebrate the construction’s beginnings.
Representatives from the village of Sussex, including Village Administrator Jeremy Smith and Village Clerk/Treasurer Casey Griffiths picked up golden shovels and helped break ground alongside Sussex IM upper management staff.
“This project is wonderful,” Smith said. “It’s always great when we can have a local business growing and expanding and adding jobs and productivity for the economy. It’s a great day. It’s even better when it’s a corporation that really cares about the community. Sussex IM has partnered with us in lots of different ways – they are a great corporation.”
