After years of work with truck and tractor pulls at fairs in the Midwest, Ozaukee County Fair board member Budd Post died on July 31.
Post contributed five years of extensive work to the Midwest truck and tractor pull at the Ozaukee County Fair, according to fair board member Natalie Salkowski. He also ran his own truck and tractor pulls at festivals in East Troy, Racine and throughout the tri-state area.
In addition to the work he has done with trucks and tractors, Post also was very involved with the Grand Motor Crash Demolition Derby at the Ozaukee County Fair, Salkowski explained.
Post also sat on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Pork Association and set up a booth each year at the state fair for that organization, Salkowski said. He also helped organize the annual Tri-County Pork Producers pork chop dinner at the Washington County Fair.
Salkowski said Post had lived across the street from her and provided her with much insight as she started as an Ozaukee County Fair board member.
“He was really, really helpful,” Salkowski said, describing how Post had guided her through the years.
Community members and fairgoers took to Facebook to share stories and sympathies following Post’s death. Many said the fair will not be the same without him.
This year’s Ozaukee County Fair runs through Sunday, Aug. 7.
