VFW news

Menomonee Falls VFW Post 9496 meets the first Tuesday of each month, at Krueger's Entertainment Center, N87 W16471 Appleton Ave., Menomonee Falls.

All veterans that are eligible to join the VFW are invited to meetings. The next meeting is March 7. The post also holds a weekly breakfast at 9 a.m. every Tuesday, at The Odyssey Family Restaurant, N82 W15380 Appleton Ave., Menomonee Falls.

Widows/Widowers

Good Shepherd Catholic Church, N88 W17658 Christman Road, Menomonee Falls, offers Widows/Widowers from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 8.

The group meets on the second Wednesday every month for a light lunch and fellowship in the St. Francis Room.

Shipwrecked

Author Rochelle Pennington will present the “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the Butler Public Library, 12808 W. Hampton Ave.

The award-winning newspaper columnist and author of 10 books will discuss one of the most well-known shipwrecks on the Great Lakes.

Writer's group

The Germantown Park and Recreation Department offers a writer's group for those 55 and older.

The group is for new and experienced writers looking to promote the joy of writing and willing to help each other find their voice. They meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. every second and fourth Monday of the month at the Germantown Senior Center, W162 N11960 Park Ave., room 112. The next meeting is March 13.

Bingo

American Legion Post 1, N120 W15932 Freistadt Road, Germantown, offers bingo every Thursday.

The doors open at 5 p.m., early bird play starts at 7 p.m. and the regular session starts at 8:15 p.m. The small sheet, three on 10 pack, is $5, the medium sheet, six on 10 pack is $9 and the large sheet or nine on 10 pack is $12. All transactions are in cash; no checks or credit cards. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
